Over hundred miles of fishes died in Zi River

In recent days, the Xinshao, in Hunan province, section of Zi River has occurred large-scale dead fish events, from upstream to downstream about a hundred miles. A number of specialized households’ cage cultures of raising fishes have died. Wild fishes in the river also died in a large area.

According to reports, the area of dead fish in Zi River is about 55 km, extending from Yangxi Bridge between Xinshao County and Shaoyang City to Xiaoxishui Dam at Xinshao County.

The dead fish incident has involved a total of more than 130 specialized fishermen of Xinshao County. According to preliminary statistics, about 200 tons of raised fish have been lost, and the fishermen’s direct economic loss is more than 20 million yuan.
