“Economic sanctions are a game that two can play,” Webster Tarpley told RT.

Iran decided not to wait until July 1, when the EU oil embargo comes into effect, instead imposing its own “boycott on the offending powers, starting with the two biggest imperialist bullies on the schoolyard.”

Britain and France “are now so weak that they can only act together,” he said. “They are a kind of an imperialist bicycle built for two. So they get slammed first.”

Back from a lengthy visit to Iran, Tarpley saw prosperity and economic activity; no evidence of hardship, except for a certain increase in key prices.

With reckless statements coming out of Israel and reverberated by certain U.S. warmongers, the big issue is the region’s slide towards war. According to Tarpley, Vladimir Putin is the only international figure with the necessary stature to lead the world away for the brink.
