Netanyahu to Pressure Obama on Iran Talks

History shows that Israel is apt to create turmoil for American foreign policy when it doesn’t get its way. After President Barack Obama’s history-making telephone conversation with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, held while Rouhani was en route to New York’s John F. Kennedy airport for his return flight to Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu prepared himself for a diplomatic battle with Obama during a visit to the White House on September 30…

Netanyahu was sent reeling when Obama announced on September 27, during a White House statement that was originally believed by the media to concern the budget battle with the Republican-led House of Representatives, that he had just concluded a phone call with Rouhani.

The 15-minute phone call was the first between a U.S. president and an Iranian head of state since 1979 and it was the first ever personal contact between a president of the United States and a president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The announcement sent shock waves through the power centers of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, as well as the plush offices of the Israel Lobby in Washington, DC and New York City:

Netanyahu, who the previous year, held up a cartoonish image of a bomb before the UN General Assembly and drew a red line through the top of the bomb, indicating that Iran was about the acquire a nuclear weapon, was prepared the draw a line for Obama in the Oval Office.

However, Obama, in his remarks on September 30, drew attention to the fact that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has issued a religious edict against Iran ever developing a nuclear weapon. Obama’s following statement rankled Netanyahu and his top advisers:

«I do believe that there is a basis for a resolution… Iran’s Supreme Leader has issued a fatwa against the development of nuclear weapons… President Rouhani has indicated that Iran will never develop nuclear weapons».

Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden have been lectured and talked down to by Netanyahu in the past and neither care personally for the Israeli prime minister.

Both Obama and Biden have been pressured by the Israel Lobby to make appearances before the annual Washington meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), where American political leaders are required to genuflect to Israel and commit the United States to 110 percent support for the Jewish state, regardless of any negative effects on U.S. national security or economic interests in the Middle East and beyond.

During Netanyahu’s visit to the White House, Biden addressed the annual meeting in Washington of AIPAC’s liberal rival, J Street, which favors the creation of a Palestinian state.

Obama’s and Biden’s message to Netanyahu was unmistakably clear. Business as usual with Netanyahu and AIPAC was a thing of the past.

J Street was now the preferred avenue for the White House’s lobbying of Jewish pressure groups on U.S. policy toward the Middle East and the U.S. was opening up direct talks with Iran.

Secretary of State John Kerry held direct talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during the UN General Assembly in New York and Kerry said he saw rapid progress toward a nuclear deal with Iran.

Moreover, at the J Street conference Biden was prepared to call on Israel to come to an agreement on the creation of a Palestinian state and Obama was expected to press Netanyahu on the Palestinian issue during their meeting at the White House. Netanyahu and his government would rather ignore the Palestinian issue and talk about war with Iran.

Due to the efforts of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Israel didn’t even succeed in seeing the U.S. launch a military attack on Bashar al-Assad’s military forces inside Syria.

A last-minute agreement on Syrian chemical weapons averted an attack on Syria while Western support for Syrian rebels diminished after reports that most of the rebels were under the control of extreme Islamist Jihadists who no longer took orders from the exiled Syrian opposition political leaders based mainly in Istanbul.

The White House announcement on the Obama-Netanyahu meeting was diplomatically terse:

«The President will hold a bilateral meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu . . . [and] looks forward to discussing with Prime Minister Netanyahu the progress on final status negotiations with the Palestinians, as well as developments in Iran, Syria, and elsewhere in the region,» said a Sept. 29 statement from the White House».

The status of Palestine was placed on the White House press release ahead of Iran and Syria.

It was the worst of all worlds for Netanyahu and the extremist right-wingers in his government. Iranian leaders were in direct meetings and conversations with the Obama administration, Biden and other U.S. leaders were pressuring Israel on Palestine via the anti-Netanyahu J Street organization, and Assad’s government received a new lease on life.

When Israel feels that is backed up against the wall, it looks to Mossad and Shin Bet to create chaos and confusion through deception campaigns. Mossad’s motto is «By Way Of Deception, Thou Shalt Wage War. And that is exactly what Israeli intelligence set out to do in order to scuttle the U.S.-Iranian rapprochement.

First, as Netanyahu was preparing to depart from Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, Shin Bet announced that it had arrested two weeks prior a Belgian of Iranian descent named Alex Mans for allegedly taking photographs of the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv.

The date of Israel’s arrest is noteworthy: September 11. Calendar dates and numbers are important for observant Jews and Israel certainly saw its share of success for its policies in other events that occurred on September 11: Santiago, 1973; New York, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania, 2001; and Benghazi, 2012.

Mans was said by Israeli authorities to be Ali Mansouri, an Iranian who moved to Belgium in 1980 and became a Belgian citizen. Shin Bet linked Mans to Iran’s revolutionary guards, the Quds Force, which Shin Bet linked to planned terrorist operations in other countries, including Kenya.

The reference to Kenya is also interesting since the leader of the alleged Somali Jihadists who attacked the Israeli-owned Westgate Mall in Nairobi is aid to be a British woman named Samantha Lewthwaite, who had earlier been discovered casing embassies in Pretoria under a false South African passport issued to a «Natalie Faye Webb».

The report that Lewthwaite was conducting surveillance of embassies in Pretoria came from a single source: the Jewish Community Security Organization of South Africa, which received its intelligence from Mossad.

Considering the fact that Israeli Special Forces were on the ground in Nairobi during the mall siege and Lewthwaite’s possession of a false passport, the latter a tactic that Mossad has employed in operations in Dubai, Australia, New Zealand, Britain, and Hungary, the Nairobi attack has all the markings of a failed false flag terror attack that might have been linked to Iran in an effort to scuttle U.S.-Iranian talks.

There was also an attempt by Israeli disinformation specialists to place Rouhani at an August 14, 1993, meeting of the Iranian National Security Council in Tehran that allegedly ordered the July 18, 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The chief Argentine prosecutor in the case, Alberto Nisman, stated that Rouhani was not at the planning meeting for the attack that killed 85 people. That meeting, stated Nisman, was the Omure Vijeh Committee meeting held on August 14, 1993, a meeting at which Rouhani was not present.

The attempt to smear Rouhani appeared in the Washington Free Beacon, a neo-conservative website financed by the Center for American Freedom, founded by neo-conservative Zionist Michael Goldfarb and supported by the Emergency Committee for Israel.

The attempt to smear Rouhani was similar to the failed attempt by the Israel Lobby to place former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the U.S. embassy in Tehran in 1979 as one of the Iranian hostage takers.

After years of holding sway over successive U.S. administrations, the Israeli leadership will not go quietly into the night. The world can expect more Mossad-initiated false flag terrorist operations or nuclear material smuggling incidents with the intention of linking them to Iran. Count on it.
