According to an unnamed Russian military diplomat some of the allies behind the “Syrian Opposition” are in the planning stages of a false flag operation which has been designed for the purpose of discrediting the reputation of Russia as an honest broker in the Syrian crisis. On Friday, 11 January 2012 the Russian military diplomat stated that the involved parties are in the process of recruiting Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian mercenaries who are supposed to take part in the operation. The mercenaries would then be deployed to locations in Turkey and Jordan where large-scale scenes, supposed to represent destroyed Syrian villages have long been built for training purposes.

Just the day after being anointed the US deputy sheriff in Asia Gillard in her comments about the Israel and Hamas escalation implicitly supported the Israeli assassination of the Hamas leader Ahmed Said Khalil al-Jabari. In her comments about the escalation, Gillard condemned repeated attacks by Hamas on Israel, but was silent on the Israeli assassination of the Hamas leader. Government assassinations are both against international law and Australian Government policy. However Gillard’s silence over the matter, just like her silence over numerous US drone assassinations in Pakistan over the last few years seems to indicate a change in Australian foreign policy. It is apparent that any breach of international law by either the US or Israel will always have the tacit support of the Australian Government even though some actions may be wrong and against any sense of moral ethics and international law. Now we live in a world were state assassination of people, even their own citizens without trial is acceptable.

Free Syrian Army declares major shuffle ‘for better morale and control’ The Free Syrian Army – Syria’s largest armed opposition group – has declared it is relocating its leadership to Syria. The move comes as opposition groups meet in Qatar for talks on forming a new body to replace the Assad government if it falls. The announcement comes just after the US called for a “shakeup” of the opposition. Mustafa Sheikh, who heads the military council that presides over the Free Syrian Army (FSA), said that Saudi Arabia had promised more support on the condition that the group becomes better organized. And now, he says the FSA is doing just that. According to Sheikh, the group has started to restructure itself into five divisions over the past ten days – north, south, east, west, and coastal. He also said the group plans to elect new leaders.
