Recently, internet users released a post that a secondary road connects Xinping’ Yi and Dai Autonomous County with Sanjiangkou in Yunnan collapsed in the next day of opening day, resulting in two dead and two injured. Internet users questioned the most short-lived highway’s collapse was because of big rain or bad quality.
After the accident, Yunnan Provincial Department of Land and Resource and the Transportation Department separately dispatched a group of experts to investigate the accident. The group all believed that it really because of natural disaster caused by heavy rainfall.
There are three damaged section in the road, including two collapsed and a surface crack. The accident site of the road is at the hillside, and four-lane in the two-way road have collapsed, and a lot of rocks, soil and concrete was rushed into the roadside valley.
Bu Youzhang, director of Xinping transport department, said that the design, construction and supervision units of the road were strictly selected in accordance with the bidding system, and there were no design flaws, poor quality of construction and negligent supervision. The accident was mainly caused by the floods.
According to reporter’s investigation, the road was constructed before approved, and accelerate the pace of construction in order to gain state subsidy.
