German Positions on Iraq/Ukraine Reflect Growing Continental European Consensus against US/UK Hegemony

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier warned that the establishment of an independent Kurdish State on Iraqi territory could further destabilize the Middle East. German foreign policy on Iraq reflects a growing consensus among continental European countries who are pushing back against Anglo-American Middle East and European hegemony, said analyst and nsnbc editor, Christof Lehmann. He added, that nobody would have been better suited for implementing the Greater Middle East Project and a potential war on Russia than Danish NATO Secretary-General Fogh Rasmussen.

In an interview published in the largest German boulevard newspaper Bild on Sunday, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told Bild that “An independent Kurdish State would further destabilize the region and give rise to new tensions”.

Independent analyst and nsnbc editor Christof Lehmann reported in a nsnbc exclusive, published June 22, that the final decision to oust the al-Maliki government in Iraq, using ISIS (IS) as proxy, was made during the Atlantic Council’s Energy Summit in Ankara, in November 2013.

Part of this decision was the establishment of a Kurdish State on Iraqi territory, or so far-reaching autonomy that it would deprive a central Iraqi government from controlling the countries resources.

In another article, published in New Eastern Outlook on July 30, Lehmann stressed that both a developing wider Middle East war and the war in Ukraine represent an Anglo-American cartel that aims at sabotaging EU – Russian relations and at maintaining Anglo-American hegemony in continental Europe.

Lehmann quotes from a conversation with an Admiral from a European NATO member state in the early 1980s, paraphrasing him:

”American colleagues at the Pentagon told me, unequivocally, that the US and UK never would allow European – Soviet relations to develop to such a degree that they would challenge the US/UK’s political, economic or military primacy and hegemony on the European continent. Such a development will be prevented by all necessary means, if necessary by provoking a war in central Europe”.

christof-lehmann-20112Lehmann, who warned against the risk of a war in Ukraine since 2012, said that the defeat of two large-scale campaigns against the Syrian town of Aleppo with NATO-led Libyan brigades, and the subsequent collapse of Russia – EU attempts to reach a consensus over the third EU Energy Package made the conflict in Ukraine as predictable as a clockwork.

In an August 2013 interview, published in Route Magazine with Igor Alexeev, Lehmann stressed that:

“The discovery of the world’s largest, known gas reserves in the Persian Gulf, shared by Qatar and Iran, and new assessments which found 70 % more gas in the Levantine in 2007, are key to understanding the dynamics of the conflicts we see today. After a completion of the PARS pipeline, from Iran, through Iraq and Syria to the Eastern Mediterranean coast, the European Union would receive more than an estimated 45 % of the gas it consumes over the next 100 – 120 years from Russian and Iranian sources.

Under non-conflict circumstances, this would warrant an increased integration of the European, Russian and Iranian energy sectors and national economies……. …

In 2007, Qatar sent US dollar 10 billion to Turkey’s Foreign Minister Davotoglu to prepare Turkey’s and Syria’s Muslim Brotherhood for the subversion of Syria. As we recently learned from former French Foreign Minister Dumas, it was also about that time, that actors in the United Kingdom began planning the subversion of Syria with the help of “rebels”. France has been motivated to taking part in the subversion of Syria, because it has gotten British support against a German push to change the French economic policy in its former African colonies, the UMEOA member states.

We see today a European Union, deeply divided over Syria and Africa. The fact that the EU is trying to limit Russian influence over its gas supply by means of the Third EU Energy Package, rather than working on furthering integration, is a direct function of these dynamics”.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier stressed in the interview with Bild on Sunday, that it is important to help Iraq so that the country could remain united and preserve its territorial integrity.

Monday Morning Talk. A Growing Continental European Consensus. During a phone call with nsnbc on Monday morning, Lehmann stressed that it would be a fallacy to understand Steinmeier’s statement as an endorsement of the U.S. bombing campaign against positions of the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq.

He added, that Steinmeier’s statement to Bild much rather represents a growing continental consensus against Anglo-American “projects in the Middle East and in Ukraine”.  Lehmann added:

“People tend to forget that the Obama administration represents the likes of Zbigniev Brzezinski, who are the ´Grand Architects` of the Greater Middle East Project and the attempt to maintain the primacy of the US/UK axis on the European continent.

The Obama administration and Brzezinski are equivalent to an US/UK foreign policy that is almost pathologically obsessed with containing Putin and Balkanizing Russia into several regions, so as to control and contain Moscow.

The referral was made with reference to, among others, Brzezinski’s latest book, Strategic Vision, in which Brzezinski attempts to rationalize the need for this policy because ´Putin and Russia had never confronted themselves with the “killing of hundreds of thousands of political dissidents during the Soviet era`.

Lehmann added that one can clearly see the almost pathological nature of Brzezinski during apresentation of his book at the Brookings Institution. Lehmann added that:

“One of the problems with obsessive personalities like Zbigniev Brzezinski is that it can be difficult to determine how much of what they write and say is propaganda and positioning aimed ad justifying a bellicose policy, and the degree to which they actually believe in the reality of their socially constructed enemy image – ´Feindbild`”.

Rather than endorsing the Anglo-American Middle East project, Steinmeier’s warning, that the establishment of a separate Kurdish State on Iraqi territory can destabilize the region, represents a growing consensus against US/UK hegemony and extremely dangerous, disruptive and obsessive policies. The growing continental European consensus against the US/UK hegemony includes Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and increasingly France.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen

Why NATO’s Fogh-Of-War was a Perfect Choice for US/UK Hegemony? How rotten things really are in the State of Denmark. Asked about the role of NATO, and especially the reason for appointing the Danish NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen for the office, Lehmann said:

“That issue alone would be worth an entire book. Consider that Denmark never was officially accepted as ally during WWII; That the then Danish Foreign Minister had a covert meeting with Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler in Rostock, not long before the German ´invasion`; Consider that the son of  Danish Foreign Minister Munch was a pedophile and that many of the documents pertaining this hot potato remain classified or have been disappeared;  Consider that Munch’s son risked being put to prison ´or worse`by the Germans; Consider that Danish forces only mounted a symbolic resistance; (emphasis added)

Consider that Anders Fogh-Rasmussen has shown his reliability during his term as Danish PM, when he engaged Danish troops in an illegal war against Iraq, Consider that the Danish courts said that plaintiffs who wanted Fogh-Rasmussen charged for illegally involving Danish troops rejected the plaintiffs on the ground that they had no standing in court; Danes are propagandized into wanting to show how much committed they are to NATO, because everybody knows that Denmark got a “free ride” instead of being occupied.

I had the privilege to talk to several of the old resistance fighters, among others Dr. Eva Graungaard. Graungaard, who was the only survivor of her resistance group and who became a life-long honorary member of the Danish parliament said ´had it not been for some 3,000 active resistance fighters in Denmark, the allies would have occupied the country`.(emphasis added)

Was Eva Graungaard still alive, I am certain, that she would have agreed that there could not have been a better choice than Denmark and Anders Fogh-Rasmussen, when it came to appointing a NATO Secretary-General. That means, a Secretary-General who was obsessed with ´being on the winning team` instead of doing what is right”. (emphasis added)

When the Danish flag was raised during the 2014 D-Day celebrations, it was not because of the role the Danish State played. The flag was raised because of the role Danish sailors played in WWII.

Danish historian Niels Wium Olesen described the situation as a ´pleasant misunderstanding`, a way of showing Denmark that it belongs to NATO today. Wium Olesen explained that Danes appreciate that misunderstanding because it is great to be on the winning team`.

Now, even that is not enough to describe how rotten things really are in the State of DenmarkWhy would the Danish sailors be honored, while the Danish resistance fighters are omitted? Because Denmark, not too many years ago, designated them as having been terrorists. (emphasis added)

Nobody would have been more eager at showing allegiance with the Anglo-American axis, even at the cost of a war in Europe, than Fogh Rasmussen”. (emphasis added)

It is noteworthy that both the government of the Czech Republic and of Slovakia, in June/July rejected to have NATO troops and NATO bases in response to the situation in Ukraine and in general.

It is also noteworthy that German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande, in May, made a joint statement warning the post-coup government in Ukraine that the use of military force in southern and eastern Ukraine is illegal, unless it is to save human lives and protect infrastructure.

Merkel and Hollande added, that even then, it must be used proportionally. Moreover, in early August,Merkel stressed that Germany wants to continue talks with Russia over Ukraine despite sanctions.

It is also noteworthy that it was Germany and Berlin who hosted the second round of Berlin Talks on Monday morning of August 18. The participants were Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France; Note the fact that the UK and USA were missing and the fact that the talks brought at least some modest progress with regard to humanitarian issues in Ukraine and with regards to de-escalating the tense situation with the involvement of the OSCE.
