Fire in central China city put out, casualties unknown

Fire fighters have just put out a warehouse fire which started at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday in Wuhan, capital of central China”s Hubei Province.

Eight people were rescued from the fire and rushed to the hospital, witnesses said. Conditions of the people were not immediately known.

Police have cordoned off the area, and started searching for victims.

Previously, sources with the fire department said a dozen people including two children might have been trapped in the fire.

The warehouse, located in an industrial park in Wuhan”s economic and technological development zone, is rented by a latex firm. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
